LCPS Chartered Accountants began in 1998 when John Luft and Pat Charlebois formed Luft Charlebois Chartered Accountants. The firm was established from the purchase of E.P. Gosselin's accounting practice. John and some of our current team members were working in this practice before he and Pat took over. One of these team members was Allan Prenger who was admitted into the partnership in 2001. Accordingly, the firm changed its name to Luft Charlebois Prenger Chartered Accountants.

In 2005, the firm expanded when Mike Speer joined the partnership and brought along his clients from his former practice. This prompted another name change to Luft Charlebois Prenger Speer Chartered Accountants.

The firm made one last name change by taking the initials of the existing partners and calling the firm LCPS Chartered Accountants. At the same time, we took advantage of new corporate legislation and changed the firm's structure from a partnership to a professional corporation.

On June 1, 2007 LCPS merged with Arding and Co., Certified General Accountants. Arding and Co. was a like minded group of professionals who served a similar client base to our own. Most of the former Arding and Co. staff and a great majority of their clients are still with us today.

A few years later, on January 16, 2011 we merged with Plata & Morrill Chartered Accountants. Plata & Morrill had an excellent reputation and strong, diversified client base of owner-managed businesses in Thunder Bay and throughout Northwestern Ontario. The combined forces of these two firms and the talents of the professionals who work for them have positioned LCPS as a strong presence in the accounting and business advisory market in Thunder Bay and the surrounding region.

Continuing to expand after 17 years in the accounting business, LCPS has merged with Dan Kelly Chartered Accountant on January 1, 2015, just as the busy tax preparation season was beginning. Our firms together have long records of service to the families and business people of the Northwestern Ontario region.
